Hey, it's your local Jangus! Did you know I recently launched my first book? No? Then my ads are not working.
The Inverted Pyramid has been a bit of a blend of everything I like, surreal, uncomfortable, campy, good ol' body horror and downright confusing with how open ended it is.
I keep meaning to write more of these posts, today feels like the best time to get started.Â
Why did I make this book?
For starters, to see if I could. I have wanted to get into the indie TTRPG space for a long time and it's a bit intimidating to start an entirely new creative endeavor. Especially one where you have to do EVERYTHING.
I HOARD PDFs and physical books, zines, one shots, modules, games, everything. I don't get the chance to run or play table top RPGs as much as I would like so they sit in my drive and bookshelf collecting dust. I'll use them for art reference or just read them for inspiration. I can't be the only one who does that, right?Â
Well now my work can be a mold slowly growing on your bookshelves and hard drives too!
What's next?Â
Currently I'm trying to finish up formatting my Mörktober challenge entries into one cohesive PDF with stats, story, loots. I'll be putting that on here and itch for free. A sample of my work if you will, a taste to get you started.Â
After that I'm going back into the ttrpg mines. I have another book already planned, I've learned from the first and I want to build on that. I'll be trying to post updates and game content on patreon, as well as in progress shots on Instagram. Similar Jangus vibes but this next one is going to have a bit more of a...let's call it aggressive stance on the culture and society we find ourselves in.
Personal opinions, in my TTRPGs?
It needs to be done. The last year has been a rollercoaster of emotions and life changes for me. Frankly, I need my work to stand for something. I went from working 50 hours a week at a job I never wanted, to afford living in an apartment I didn't care for.Â
I liked the town, some of the people, and the food, the culture really. While watching tech companies expand and push people out of housing, and the number of people living on the streets continue to rapidly rise.
The divide growing.
The haves and the have nots.
The finger pointing as a distraction to keep it "us vs them" . This ever changing and amorphous enemy people are told exist, it's always somebody else. A stranger you should hate and fear, because it takes the heat off of who is really the problem.Â
But we can get more into that later.Â
What the hell have you been doing?
Well for starters I retrofitted a van for me and my dog to live in, and I've been just kind of cruising. Looking for where to set roots. Talking to people, doing weird shit. Fighting weather extremes in both directions. I love it, I hate it, it's everything and nothing. It's all good vibes and emotional damage.Â
Much like how I feel about my work. But if you got this far, I love you. And if you still like me and my work then it's tenfold.Â
I'll keep doing these when I got something fun to talk about, or if another good rant needs to come out.
